I just started following the blog of Bro. Wayne Francis. The first post I read happened to be titled Weathering the Storm. As I progressed, I became reminded of how the Lord feels towards His children in this regard. If one takes time to consider this thought, the love He holds for us becomes very apparent. However, if we are honest with ourselves, many times human nature, struggle, weariness, and many other influences can temporarily lead us astray.
We know that spiritually, it is possible become sick with self. How easily our vision of Christ becomes blurred as does our clarity of mind when we forget to rely on God's modus operandi. It is in these instances that we must learn to break free from self and allow God's spirit to mend our unhealthy thinking.
Take for instance fear. Fear is, in Biblical terms, in complete opposition to faith. We know that faith can alter realities around us by the working of the Spirit in our response to the Truth of God's Word, so fear can do the same thing in a sense. Negatively though, fear is based upon our believing the lies of our enemy tells. It is then that these fears can become realities.
For example, fear of the unknown can cause us to look at the situations around us as hopeless or dark. They can distort our "God mindedness" causing us to create realities that are untrue. It is then that we often begin to act upon the fear and create realities that are based upon them. The result is that we are pushed further away from a true perspective of the present situation. Note, these realities we create can come about solely as a byproduct of our own fears as we let them drive us to action. A proper response to fear is grounded in a Biblical understanding of God's Word.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - II Timothy 1:7
